His acceptance to join and his active participation in such prestigious trial organizations as the International Society of Barristers, the National Board of Trial Advocacy, and the American College of Trial Lawyers attests to both his professional drive and his acknowledgement as a leader.

American College of Trial Lawyers. The ACTL is composed of the best of the trial bar from the United States and Canada and is widely considered to be the premier professional trial organization in America. Membership is by invitation only and is limited to not more than one percent of all of the lawyers licensed to practice in any given state.

International Society of Barristers. The ISB is an honor society of outstanding trial lawyers chosen by their peers on the basis of excellence and integrity in advocacy. With limited membership by invitation only, the Society has Fellows from every state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Australia, Canada, England, Scotland and Mexico.

National Board of Trial Advocacy. The NBTA is a non-profit organization devoted to improving the quality of trial advocacy and to aiding clients in choosing experienced legal representation. Members can advertise that they have met the objective and rigorous standards approved by the U. S. Supreme Court, the American Bar Association, and the Supreme Court Commission of Certification as specialists.

    Laird graduated from the University of Colorado with a B.A. and the University of Denver College of Law, J.D. He received his mediation training at the American Health Lawyers Association and has been mediating since 1995.
