A Fellow and Board Member of the International Academy of Mediators, Karin is a distinguished mediator, trainer and attorney. Formerly Chief Appellate Mediator at the Utah Court of Appeals, Bar Counsel at the Utah State Bar, and an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Utah S.J. Quinney School of Law, Karin was born and raised in New Hampshire.
Ms. Hobbs has served on the Board of Bar Commissioners at the Utah State Bar and was the founding chair of the Section of Dispute Resolution of the Utah State Bar. Her peers recognized her talent in 2004 when she received the Peter W. Billings, Sr. award for Excellence in Alternative Dispute Resolution. In April of 2006, Ms. Hobbs attended an enriching and exciting meeting at Harvard University in which Master Mediators from the International Academy of Mediators met with Harvard University professors (Project on Negotiation and Harvard Negotiation Insight Initiative) to explore the cutting edge ideas in negotiation and mediation. She has published several articles on mediation, including an article in the American Arbitration Association's Handbook on Mediation, and has conducted hundreds of training is mediation and negotiation to attorneys, students at the University of Utah, and business people in the Intermountain West.
